Title: SOUR

Author: Jennifer Woodhull

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Release Date: June 4th

About SOUR:

Tall, handsome, and eternally optimistic Noah has dated a string of gorgeous women. His best friend Elle has outlasted them all. Of course, he has no idea she’s been in love with him for years. Why would he? It’s not like she’s going to tell him. After all, she’s short and awkward, and as he’s fond of reminding her, has a sour disposition.

When Elle takes off on her annual ten-day vacation with her family, Noah comes to a startling realization. She’s the woman who is by his side day in and day out, whose office is across the hall, and whose house is around the corner. She has called him on his shit when he gets too cocky, and he has held her in her arms when her heart was broken. Absence must make the heart grow fonder because while she’s in Germany with her parents, he realizes that everything he has ever wanted was right there all along. Now he’s on a mission to make her realize that romance won’t ruin their friendship, but platonic friendship is ruining their relationship.

Exclusive Excerpt:

I walk down the hall, and turn the corner into my room to find, to my shock and dismay, a wall of dripping wet muscle standing at the foot of my bed, toweling himself off.

I gasp, clutching my palm to the bare spot on my chest between the cups of my bra—thankfully, a t-shirt model that offers at least a little coverage. Hearing me, he turns, holding the towel just so that the most critical information is unavailable.

“Hey, you’re home!”

Noah takes three long strides toward me and leans forward to hug me. I put my palm out and it lands firmly in the middle of his perfect, muscular chest.

“You’re naked! You can’t hug me naked! It’s weird!” I exclaim.

“You’re naked too!” He argues, wrapping the towel around his waist and folding it into a not-very-secure-looking knot at the side.

I silently will the knot to fail and expose the only bit of Noah Adler that I’ve never seen, but sadly I still have not developed telekinetic powers, so nothing happens.

“There, better?” He asks, palms up.

He doesn’t give me a chance to answer and instead wraps thick, muscular forearms and defined biceps around me as he pulls me into his sculpted torso.

“I missed you!” He says, laying his cheek against the top of my head.

I wrap my arms around his midsection and look up as I give him a squeeze, carefully jutting my ass out so my belly doesn’t make contact with what I imagine is a sizable and delicious member beneath the towel he’s barely wearing.

“I missed you too. You should’ve come with us,” I say, closing my eyes as I do a happy dance on the inside because he came to see me after all.

“I’m not a Bailey. No Bailey family adventures for me,” he laughs. “But I am going to need you to tell me every detail, Ariel.”

I squirm away from him. “Well, that didn’t take long. I’m over missing you now.”

About the Author:

We all need moments of escape. With all the demands on us day in and day out, we each need something just for ourselves. Perhaps nothing provides a private moment – a brief respite from every day – like escaping into a great story. When you pick up one of my books I hope you find that place that you can escape to. Explore the streets of Paris with new heroines or fly around the world to reclaim your lost love with a favorite hero. Whether it’s the romance that takes your breath away or those climactic encounters that make your pulse race, I hope you find that solitary moment of enjoyment while lost in one of my stories.

Exclusive Excerpt:

My phone bounces around on the nightstand as it softly plays Britney Spears. It’s time to work, bitch. And this morning I have a practice skate with Luc. We have been working so hard these past few weeks and things are finally coming together. I am so thankful for this opportunity that I don’t want to let Luc and our coaches down so I try and get to the rink extra early so that I am warmed up and ready to go. I don’t want any of them waiting on me.

I look back over my shoulder to where Kane is sleeping. His eyes are still closed, and his breaths come evenly. Good, he’s still asleep and after last night’s revelations, I don’t want to wake him up. We are finally in a good place again and I’m not going to throw Luc in his face the very next day. I’m not going to be the one to rock the boat this time.

I gently lift the covers and cautiously slide out from underneath them. If I was focused on anything other than not waking Kane up, I would have noticed that he, and other parts of his anatomy, were very much awake long before his arm tightens around my waist and hauls me back into the bed.

“Eeek!” I squeal as he surprises me.

“Where are you going, Tink?” Kane rasps, his voice still husky with sleep and other things. “I don’t know if I’m ready to let you leave this bed yet.”

“Well, you don’t have a choice because I have an early practice this morning,” I inform him with a little softness in my voice so that he knows that I am not choosing the rink over him. “But I’ll be back later.”

Kane lets go of me and I slide out of bed and start pulling clothing that I had left here before we stopped speaking from drawers. I notice that Kane is flinging the covers back and pushing up from the bed to stand nude in all his morning glory—and I do mean glory—which I see prominently when he turns to the side before facing away again. His firm backside is turned towards me and I watch the muscles in his body play as he stretches out.

“Wh-what are you doing?” I ask before I give my brain a chance to catch up with my mouth. I should probably get some coffee in me before I sign my life away.

“Getting up,” he says with a smirk playing about his mouth.

“I . . . uhh . . . I see that,” I mumble as I stare at his erection. I can’t help it. It’s like there’s a sexual tractor beam that draws my eyes directly to his long, hard cock.

“My eyes are up here, baby,” he says with a chuckle and my eyes snap up to his. “I meant that I was getting out of bed to go with you.”

“Oh . . .” Well, that’s not at all embarrassing. Kane has the ability to wipe all thought from my brain with a set of glutes that I know for a fact that I can bounce a quarter off of them because I have already tried.

I lose my train of thought as I watch Kane pull a pair of lighter wash jeans out of a drawer and slide them up his legs without underpants. They way that the smooth material molds to his muscular legs and . . . other assets shows how well-worn they are. Not to mention spending the day knowing that there is nothing standing in between my hand and what I so desperately want but a few buttons and some well worn material is going to play havoc in my mind all morning. He pulls a white t-shirt over his head then grabs a gray hoodie and tosses it on the bed before grabbing a pair of socks and running shoes.

“Sophie?” he calls my name making me snap to attention.

“What?” I ask still distracted by the thought of him going commando. I wonder if I would be able to tell if he was even a little bit hard because the material is so soft and pliable. If I was paying more attention to what I was trying not to pay attention to I would definitely have my answer.

“You were staring . . .” he trails off in explanation.

“Huh?” I slow blink once . . . twice . . . three times to clear the fog from my brain but all I can see is Kane’s huge . . . uhh . . .

“You’re staring.” He smirks. “And if you keep on staring at me like that Tink we’re going to be about an hour late.” That snaps me back into consciousness.

“No!” I shout as he prowls closer. “We don’t have time.”

“I’ll be quick,” he hums as he pushes me back onto the bed and somehow scooping up the shirt of his that I slept in last night and pulling it over my head to throw down to the floor like the practiced sex magician that he is—leaving me naked.

“How quick?” I ask before I can stop my mouth from asking what my brain knows that it shouldn’t. I don’t have time to play with Kane. I can’t be late for practice.

“Fast,” Kane says as he flicks open the buttons on those jeans that he wears all too well and lets his hard length spring free. He leans down over me. And I was going to be early anyways, now I’ll just be on time. That’s good enough. I can afford to be fast with Kane.

“Not too fast,” I complain.

“No, baby. Not too fast,” he says just before he crashes his mouth down on mine and slides deep inside me. Kane hits that spot that makes my eyes roll back in my head and all rational thought goes right out the window.

It’s not what you think

“Sweet Kristi Yamaguchi’s daisy dress,” I whisper more to myself than anyone else. “You have got to be kidding me.”

“This is not what you think,” Luc says and there is a note of panic in his voice that makes me backup a step.

“Really?” I ask as my anger rises up to the surface. What kind of bubble headed moron does he think I am? I wasn’t born yesterday. “Because it looks to me like you are standing over the dead body of our competitor.”

“Okay,” Luc says hesitantly. “It is what it looks like.”

“Darn it, Luc!” I snap. “How could you?”

“What?” he says surprised. “You can’t possibly think that I did this?”

“Well, I don’t really know what to think right now, now do I?” I bite back.

“Sophie, please,” he pleads. “You’ve got to believe me.”

“This looks bad, Luc,” I tell him. “Really, really bad.”

“I know.” He lets out a frustrated sigh and pushes a hand through his thick hair.

Luc and I stand there, facing each other off, with Layla’s body sprawled over a chair between us. I’m not sure which is more disconcerting, the ropes tied around her nude body or the ones tied around her neck.

“Please don’t run from me. I’m not going to hurt you.”

“I’m not going to lie, Luc, this scares me,” I admit.

“I know. Me too.”

He sighs again and pulls his hand through his hair. The silence between us speaks volumes. This was supposed to be my second chance at the Games. My last one as a singles competitor was taken from me by my Stepmonster and her evil henchman when they broke my leg. But when the opportunity to replace half of a pairs team came up, I jumped on it. Now, it seems like I should have paid more attention to the fine print.

“You have to believe me,” he pleads with those big, brown puppy dog eyes, the ones that have probably gotten him out of more scrapes than he deserves.

I let out a sigh and admit, “I do.”

“Thank fuck,” Luc blurts out. “But what are we going to do now?”

I wish like heck that I knew myself. This is more than a little complication.

“I don’t know.” What I do know is that my mostly on again boyfriend, former professional hockey player and current San Diego PD homicide detective, Kane Fucking Green, is not going to be thrilled when he hears what happened.

Kane is going to be so mad—he’s going to be pissed—excuse my french.

My name is Sophia Eleanore Dubois, daughter of a United States Senator, still an Olympic hopeful figure skater, and holy mother of Dorothy Hamill, my life is still complicated . . .

DEAD AND GONE by Jennifer Rebecca – Blog Tour

Today we have the blog tour for Dead and Gone by Jennifer Rebecca! Check it out and be sure to grab your copy today:

Title: Dead and Gone

Author: Jennifer Rebecca

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Cover by Alyssa Garcia at Uplifting Designs.

About Dead and Gone:

You ever have an out of body experience? Like one of those moments where you’re standing on a street corner watching yourself do something monumentally stupid? Something you know you shouldn’t do but you just can’t help yourself?

Three weeks ago, Trent and I were deep into the Honeymoon stage of love, I swore I wouldn’t be the first one to rock the boat—Lord knows with our two Irish tempers it would happen soon enough—so when he made me promise to keep my nose and our grandmothers out of his investigation, I did.

It didn’t hurt that his head was buried between my legs at the time either. But then Daisy called me begging for help and what kind of bestie would I be if I shut the door in her face? That’s right, a sh*tty one. So I packed up our grandmothers and their gogo boots, g-strings and pasties to get to the bottom of things. Only problem is if Trent catches us I’ll be dead meat, folks.

My name is Shelby Whitmore, Funeral and Obituaries columnist for the San Diego Metro News and most likely to be single again if I survive this sh*t. But hey, at least I’m still a hit with the blue hairs . . .

I’m dead meat. Literally. Dead. Meat.

Last month, when Trent and I started up for real after all of our false starts at the beginning of our relationship I promised him I wouldn’t do anything crazy. I wouldn’t go off half-cocked. And most importantly, I wouldn’t follow our grandmothers down the crazy-assed rabbit hole of Granny Grabbers and Dangerous Dames.

“You’re not police officers,” he had said.

And I agreed. We’re not.

Trent also might have coerced me into agreeing with him in the most despicable ways. One minute my legs were wrapped around his neck, my eyes were rolled back in my head, and I was one more “Oh, yes!” away from the promised land.

“Shell,” he said to me in between licks and kisses. “Promise me you won’t do anything crazy.” He kissed me again and again.

“Yes.” I ignored him as I rocked against his mouth, moving closer and closer.

“Promise,” he commanded as I spiraled the edge.

             “Yes!” I cried.

“You promise?” he asked me again, but I was too far gone.

             “Sweet petunia, yes!”

“I’m so glad we agree. You have no idea how happy this makes me, Shelby.” Trent smiled as he slithered up my body like the snake that he was.

Although, I had an idea how happy my climax had made him, as it was currently poking me in the thigh. Before I had a chance to catch my breath or even question what, exactly, Trent and I agreed on, he slid all the way inside me, to the hilt, and my eyes rolled back in my head.

*****

As It turned out, we had allegedly agreed that I wouldn’t go on any more cappers with my friend, Daisy, the retired hooker, and our grandmothers. Sophia was out, she was at some big, fancy figure skating competition in Chicago.

I still agreed. I mean, what kind of trouble could two widowed senior citizens, a retired hooker, and an obituaries columnist for the local paper get into. I mean really. Lightning doesn’t strike twice. It doesn’t, right?

And Trent and I had worked out some kinks. He yelled less. I pretended to listen more. And when I didn’t he used his handsome mouth in better ways than yelling if you catch my drift. We were officially in the love bubble. The honeymoon stage. I wasn’t ready to rock the boat for just anything all willy nilly.

But Daisy, my sweet, fabulous, eccentrically dressed best friend had a problem. Several of her . . . ummm . . . colleagues from the old days were missing. Like really missing, not shacked up with a John. And she was worried. Yes, my sweet friend, Daisy, had a problem and she came to me for help, advice, I don’t really know what. All I know is that led me to today as I sit, handcuffed to the pipes of a bathroom sink in a filthy motel just this side of Mexico, dressed like a cheap hooker. Yep, I’m in trouble, folks. Just like I said . . . Dead. Meat. My name is Shelby Whitmore, funeral and obituaries columnist for the San Diego Metro News and most likely to be single again if I survive this shit. I guess I should start at the beginning . . .

The hall has been booked, the flowers have been ordered, and the invitations have been sent. Everything is finally falling into place for the happy couple, or so it seems.

That is until a hunter the likes of the old DC Sniper has his sights set on New Jersey Law Enforcement and suddenly the thin blue line has a big, old target painted on their backs. It’s open season on police officers and federal agents alike. She might be the best damn detective in the state of New Jersey but even this case has Claire running for her life.

Not to mention the loss of one of her inner circle seems to have shook something loose in her mind. Claire’s memories of that long ago day when she was taken from her home as a child are surfacing one after another. But will she remember before it’s too late?

It’s like they always say, every story has its ending.

Are you ready for this one?

It’s gonna sting.

Exclusive Excerpt:

There is a marching band pounding away in my brain.
I must have had too much to drink at the rehearsal dinner last night. I think. I have to get my ass ready for today—my wedding day—because if I don’t, my bestie, Emma, will have my ass.
I pry my eyes open, only then do I realize that I am not in our hotel room on the coast. I’m not in the luxury king sized bed full of fluffy euro pillows and down comforters near a window looking out at the Atlantic Ocean. I’m not where I should be. It takes my brain a minute, still feeling as fuzzy as it is, to realize that I’m not . . . safe.
The light shines through the wooden slats of the closet doors just the way that it is in my dreams.
I’m here. Right back where I started. Where I thought I would die when I was so small. Just a baby really. Where I once escaped and had naively thought I would never be back. I scoot back on the worn, torn carpet floor of the closet that I was locked in once before, until my back hits the wall. I try to make myself as small as possible hoping against all hope that he won’t see me. But as I hear the footsteps growing louder and louder, I know that there is no hope to be found. No hope at all.
The closet door swings open and I realize how stupid I have been. All this time that I struggled, that I suffered from those terrible nightmares and prayed that they would either end or I would finally remember who had tried to harm me when I was just six years old. All those times I thought I was safe, that I was free, were really nothing but lies because looking down at me with a sinister smile on his face in this little house of horrors from my haunted past is the last person I ever would have thought would be capable of this kind of thing.
I was never free, I was living under the watchful eye of a monster, a wolf in sheep’s clothing just waiting for their chance to pounce. His smile broadens and his eyes glimmer with excitement in the knowledge that he’s won. It’s finally over. This game of cat and mouse that we have been silently engaged in for twenty-four years is ending.
He pulls his leather belt free from his pants and loops it around my neck. I look up into his warm eyes, ones that I had always trusted as he tightens the leather around my neck.
“It’s you. It was always you,” I say as suddenly every memory finally clicks into place. Anna would be so proud.
I gasp as the air is squeezed out of my lungs. I struggle to pull more in even though in my brain I know that it isn’t possible. Maybe this is how it was always supposed to be. Maybe this is how my story was always supposed to end. My name is Detective Claire Goodnite and I’m about to die.
You know what they say, every story has its ending, I just wish I was prepared for this one.
I can already tell that this one’s gonna sting . . .
